Primary Function

The Business Systems Analyst II (Methodology) is responsible for gathering and translating business and/or technical needs into relevant documentation for assigned projects. The BSA II is responsible for establishing consensus among stakeholders and/or project team members in relationship to assigned deliverables. The BSA II provides leadership and a collaborative approach to integrating the stakeholder needs with the project activities and facilitating communication across the project and IT service teams involved in solution development related activities. The BSA II demonstrates the ability to perform job functions in an independent manner, with limited coaching. The BSA II is capable of performing on multiple projects and can be assigned as a mentor to IT project managers and team members, guiding them to execute job functions and related processes in alignment with IT’s methodology standards


General Job Responsibilities and Activities

· Performs gathering, analysis, documentation, and validation of business and / or technical needs using interviews, workshops, and modeling techniques.

· Documents business and / or technical needs using textual, and visual, modeling deliverables designed to help SUPERVALU meet its strategic objectives, in accordance with SUPERVALU practices.

· Facilitates small to medium sized groups of individuals, representing significant diversity in interest and level of leadership, to a common understanding of a solution.

· Fosters team building and self-driven skill development through active participation in appropriate training, mentoring, and certification programs.

· Consults with subject matter experts and project team members to identify and document potential business and technology process solutions,

· Identifies, manages, and tracks business and technical needs objectives throughout the project’s lifecycle.

· Identifies and communicates project issues and risks to the IT and business unit management with suggested mitigation and resolution approach options.

· Coordinates project or initiative tasks with relevant team members, stakeholders and leadership.

· Manages day-to-day interactions in relationship to assigned deliverables, with the guidance of functional manager, project manager, and mentor.

· Builds strong relationships with stakeholders, subject matter experts, functional domain leadership, and other IT disciplines and service teams.

· Participates in the mentoring of other BSA resources.

· Demonstrates competencies as outlined in applicable Business Systems Analyst Specialty (see below).


Business System Analyst Speciality – Methodology Analyst

Primary Function: Assists in the definition, implementation, rollout, maintenance, and support of IT project processes, and their supporting tools and training.

· Demonstrates knowledge of more than one packaged methodology, such as the Rational Unified Process (RUP), Agile, and SCRUM.

· Demonstrates knowledge of software development quality assurance practices such as project reviews, code reviews, peer programming, test driven development, continuous integration, and development and deployment change management.

· Understands all disciplines in the project and software development lifecycle, including Project Management, Requirements Management, Business Process Modeling, Analysis & Design, Implementation, Configuration & Change Management, Test, and Deployment with detailed knowledge and practical experience in one or more of these areas.

· Mentors IT project managers and team members, guiding them to execute development practices in alignment with SUPERVALU’s Cadence project methodology

· Performs intermediate level of analysis of SUPERVALU processes and emerging industry best practices in Information Technology project and software development lifecycles, to identify process improvement opportunities.

· Participates in developing written or web-based methodology documentation, user guides, and training materials, for all project roles.

· Fosters communication across multiple SUPERVALU IT disciplines, service teams, and organizations while bridging consensus across their varied interests and priorities.






Job Requirements
Education, Certification, and Relevant Experience

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related discipline or;

· 3-5 years relevant work experience

· Preferred work experience in IT, retail, or supply chain organization.

· Demonstrates strong public speaking and presentation skills.

· Demonstrate strong facilitation skills with the ability to drive toward common solutions.

· Demonstrate strong interviewing, listening, and observational skills used to identify and define business and technical needs.

· Demonstrate strong analytical and conceptual skills used to evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, while reconciling discrepancies.

· Demonstrate strong analytical modelling skills (models that clearly and easily communicate concepts to customers).

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong customer focus and demonstrated ability to work in geographically dispersed teams

· Ability to manage competing priorities

· Must have strong computer skills and be proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications


Physical Requirements

· Some travel may be required

· Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.

· Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal.

· Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday.

· Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties.
