JOB SUMMARY:


The Senior Provider Contract Negotiator contracts with ancillary and hospital providers, negotiates to achieve health care cost targets, researches available providers and historical claims data for network adjustments, conducts network analysis and strategy development, supports development of network strategies, and handles more complex and specialty contracts.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Participates with network development and retention strategizing.
* Participates with network analysis for adequacy and recruitment targets.
* Participates with provider contract negotiations - hospitals, ancillaries, specialty providers, and physician groups.
* Participates with financial analysis for network development targets and reimbursement levels.
* Coordinates across geographical areas to leverage contracting opportunities.

Qualifications


REQUIREMENTS:



Education:
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred (MBA, MHA).



Certification/License:


Experience:
Five to seven years in negotiation of managed care contracts.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

* Knowledge of principles and processes of managed care lines of reimbursement methodologies.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Computer skills, including Excel, Access and Word.
* Abilities to be a team member as well as a team leader.
* Ability to focus on overall task while balancing a multitude of priorities.
* Demonstrated skills in contract negotiations.
* Demonstrated analytical skills.
* Ability to establish credibility with hospitals, physicians and MTF staff.
* Demonstrated ability to effectively deal with difficult and complex negotiations.
