Position Profile: The Electro/Mechanical Assembler will recognize deficiencies in the appearance of material or procedures and will correct those deficiencies in support of the new build and field returns of intelligence, surveillance, and imagery processing high performance data link systems and products for L-3 Communications – the sixth largest defense contractor in the United States.
Responsibilities: The Electro/Mechanical Assembler performs a variety of manufacturing tasks and processes related to data link systems.
* Read and interpret wire tables and diagrams, schematics, blueprints, color codes, and Engineering Change Requests to include Engineering modifications and designs.
* Advanced harness assembly, wire termination, cable design and tooling.
Education/Experience:
* This position requires a High School Diploma and three plus (3+) years of assembly experience in the fabrication of highly complex, proto-type system level mechanical devices, cable completions, and soldering of Bricks, Power Supplies, and LRU’s (Lower Replacement Units).
* Familiarity with and capable of continuity and resistance testing (C&R).
* Knowledge of special routing and build up/tear down procedures, measurements, and mathematics and basic electrical knowledge.
* Understanding of and demonstrated experience with IPC-610 criteria.
* Ability to solder to two (2) generations of components, terminals, and connectors.
* Ability to perform in a team environment with good inter-personal skills is necessary with commitment to the highest quality achievable. Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Suite and Internet browsers required.
Special Requirements:
* Due to the nature of our work this position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance (including COMSEC).
* Must be able to obtain and maintain certifications as required for employment with L-3 Communications as an Electro/Mechanical Assembler.
* Position requires the ability to lift 40 pounds.
* This position may require overtime, weekend, holiday and/or second shift work.
Additional Comments: This position may be filled at a higher grade based on the successful applicants skills, education and experience.
