Position Profile: The Environmental Test Technician will be responsible to test and maintain environmental test equipment to meet engineering, production, and quality goals in support of the build of high performance data link systems and products for the sixth largest defense contractor in the United States – L-3 Communications.
Competencies: The Environmental Test Technician will interface effectively with both operators and engineers in testing the products built in simulated environmental conditions.
• In-depth understanding of electricity, electronics, and computer controlled machinery with a good mechanical background.
• Working knowledge of solid-state and computer technology.
• Demonstrated ability to understand environmental test equipment setups and usage.
• Involved understanding of computers, data capture, and simulation of environmental conditions in a controlled environment.
• Ability to use hand and power tools with excellent troubleshooting skills.
• Be able to follow verbal and written instructions and have good communication skills.
• Capable of working in a fast-paced and high-accuracy environment while remaining calm and effective to meet deadlines.
• Ability to maintain a good working relationship with internal and external customers to ensure customer confidence.
Education/Experience: This position requires an Associates degree from an accredited two-year technical or military electronics program and two plus (2+) years of experience. Certifications and licenses are a plus.
Special Requirements:
• Due to the nature of our work this position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and work on heights and ladders.
• Capable of working in solder, solvents, and a chemicals environment.
• This position may require overtime, weekend, holiday and/or non-standard hours as well as rotating shifts.
• Experience using automation equipment and programs from Lab Views is desirable.
